The Best Eating for Your Heart
There’s growing evidence that a plant-based diet is healthier for the prevention of cardiovascular disease. The Mediterranean diet had long been thought to be the best diet for heart health but research may indicate otherwise.
“Another recent study showed that vegetarian diets provide even greater cardiovascular protection than the Mediterranean diet”. The article goes on to say that vegetarians are approximately 1/3 less likely to be hospitalized or die from heart disease. The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine also notes that vegetarians are slimmer and recorded lower total cholesterol and lower blood pressure. So go ahead, eat your fruits, vegetables and legumes; your heart will thank you.
