Fish Oil Supplements Increase Muscle in Older Adults
Omega-3 fatty acids, those found in fish oils, are well known for their positive impact on heart health. Now they have been also shown to increase muscle mass and function in healthy older adults. A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition revealed that in a double-blind test participants over 60 years of age who took fish oil supplements had a modest increase in muscle mass and function, without being asked to do weight training. They concluded that such therapy “slows the normal decline in muscle mass and function in older adults.”
The lesson in this is to make sure that you are regularly eating fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Unfortunately, many in the Yakima region do not, and there is a concern of heavy metals in some fish.
If you are looking for a concentrated, pure fish oil supplement we have the perfect solution for you.
