Water Better than Diet Beverages for Weight Loss
As an increasing number of people have struggled with their weight in recent decades, many have turned to diet beverages as a way to reduce calories compared to sugar-laden drinks, such as conventional sodas. Some recent studies have questioned the value of these “diet” drinks, and now another study adds to the concern. New research published in Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism shows that in obese women with type-2 diabetes, those who substituted water for diet beverages after their main meal within a weight loss program lost more weight. These participants had better fasting blood sugar levels and insulin sensitivity.
