Alcohol May Increase Risk of Melanoma

While there may be some health benefits associated with alcohol consumption, there are also some real risks. Here’s another one: A recent study published in Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention revealed that “alcohol intake was associated with a modest increase in the risk of melanoma, particularly in UV protected sites.” Of particular is the fact that white wine showed the most significant association, possibly because of the fewer antioxidants compared to red wine. Nonetheless, the typical wisdom prevails: if you drink, do so only moderately.
