Keep Your Brain Younger with Beet Root Juice
Here’s another reason to eat your veggies, including some of those that you might not be consuming regularly. A new study from Wake Forest University, and published in The Journals of Gerontology Series A, showed the “the potential enhanced neuroplasticity conferred by combining exercise and BRJ [beet root juice] consumption.” In other words, drinking beetroot juice before working out makes the brain of older adults perform more efficiently, mirroring that of a younger brain. It is believed that this is because of the nitrates that are found in beets, which, when converted to nitric oxide, improve blood flow. This combined with exercise delivers more oxygen to the brain.
