Lutein and zeaxanthin help with stress

Lutein and zeaxanthin are hardly household words, but if you have heard about these carotenoids (i.e. pigments found in certain plants) it is likely in relation to eyesight. Lutein and zeaxanthin function as antioxidants, helping in the prevention of macular degeneration, and are often recommended for older adults. Now, a new study, published in the journal Nutritional Neuroscience, shows a new benefit discovered by researchers at the University of Georgia. Participants supplementing with these carotenoids had improved psychological stress levels and reduced serum cortisol. While the study was conducted on young adults, there may be promise for older individuals taking an eye health supplement containing these ingredients.

If you are looking to increase your levels of lutein and zeaxanthin we have a well-rounded carotenoid supplement for you.
