Exercise and bone fat

Did you know that excessive fat in your bone marrow negatively affects your overall bone health? Researchers at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine recently made this discovery, and determined that exercising burns the fat in bone marrow and which can improve bone quality and the amount of bone in a matter of weeks. The study, published in the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research, was conducted on mice, but it is believed that there are significant implications here for humans as well. Exercise has long been understood as important for bone health, but now there is greater insight into some of the mechanisms involved.
