Calcium Linked to Cholesterol Control
We all know the bone health benefits of calcium, but this mineral has many other important functions in the body. An example of this is demonstrated in new Canadian research, published in the journal Scientific Reports. Researchers discovered that calcium has an important role in regulating cholesterol, such that a lack of calcium can result in cholesterol production. There is still much more understand about this relationship, and the effect of diet; nevertheless, it is a good reminder that calcium is an essential nutrient.
