Walnuts May Be Good for the Gut
Walnuts have long been touted for their heart health benefits because of their omega-3 fatty acids. Now, animal research shows that these nuts may also be good for digestive health. The results, published in The Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry, showed that walnut consumption altered the gut microbiome, mainly by acting as a prebiotic to help nourish the bacteria for keeping the digestive system healthy. Another good reason to include a variety of nuts in your diet!
