Avocados May Improve Cognitive Function
Avocados are not only a popular food item, but have been shown to have many health benefits. The latest benefit is revealed in a study published in the journal Nutrients, where it was discovered that eating one fresh avocado daily may lead to improved cognitive function in healthy older adults. The researchers identified the increase of lutein in the brain and eyes as the likely factor for the results. We have pointed out several other studies touting the benefits of lutein, a carotenoid found in certain fruits and vegetables, and functions as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent. Bring out the guac!
If you are looking for another way to increase your levels of lutein we have several carotenoid supplements for you, including this one.
