Whole Plant Food Diet Brings Better Health
Good nutrition is much more complex than many people think, as there are many aspects to nutrition beyond the obvious protein, fats, carbs, vitamins and minerals. A recent study, published in Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry, illustrates this point. The study involved two groups of pigs, one with a typical high-calorie diet, the other with additional purple-fleshed potatoes, a rich source of phyto-chemical compounds. This latter group had much lower incidences of colon cancer and intestinal inflammation, demonstrating that a wide range of compounds found in vegetables and fruits are valuable for health. While further study on humans is desired, the researchers used pigs since their digestive systems are similar to ours.
If you are looking for a way to add more of these phyto-nutrients to your diet, we have a number of supplements rich in them, such as this one.
